Apologies for no police presence at the meeting were received from Police Inspector N. Straughan. He requested all Parish Council meeting dates in order to improve the police attendance.

2195 Request From Marlene Reid Centre For Parish Councillor To Attend Volunteer Centre Rural Road Show on 19th October 2005 at St. John Moore School
The Parish Councillors agreed to attend where possible and an article be put in the Parish News Line offering transport for villagers who otherwise may not be able to attend. Also, details of the event to be passed to the W.I. and Welcome Club.
2196 Letter Received From Appleby Magna Cricket Club
Proposals to improve cricket facilities on the recreation ground were discussed and it was agreed there were no objections to the changes if they did not affect other recreation ground users or footpath.
2197 State Of Brook Next To Crown Inn
The Parish Council discussed debris in the brook and meshing at the side of the brook and agreed a letter be sent to the resident responsible requesting it be cleared. Concerns were raised about possible blocking and damage to the culvert with the onset of Autumn/Winter. The letter to include a reminder about the height of fencing allowed without the need for planning permission.
2198 Request From BCTV For Hedge Laying Requirements & Problem of Overgrown Hedges
It was agreed to forward BCTV details to the Parochial Church Council.
A complaint had been received about an overgrown hedge in Botts Lane over hanging the highway, as the owner is not known to the Parish Council it was agreed to contact the District Council. An overhanging hedge in New Street was reported which is normally cut on a regular basis, therefore, it was agreed to monitor the situation.
2199 'Local Works' Campaign For The Sustainable Communities Bill
The Parish Council discussed a request for support from the ‘Local Works’ campaign. It was agreed to support the bill but wished to inform them more commitments would require adequate resources.
2200 Recreation Ground Play Equipment
It was reported the newly installed play train was unstable due to older children rocking the equipment. It was agreed to contact the manufacturers urgently about securing the structure.
2201 Order of the British Empire Recommendation
The Parish Council agreed to the recommendation and requested the clerk obtain more details for the next meeting.
2202 Ideas for Written Piece - Parish News Line
The Parish Council agreed to put in the Parish News Line the following points: -
a) Parish Councillors to offer transportation to residents wishing to visit the Volunteer Centre Rural Road Show at the Sir John Moore School.
b) Request to villagers to report to the police any vandalism.
