Sir John Moore
Foundation wins Major Museum Award
The Sir John Moore
Foundation was declared Leicestershire and Rutland
Museum of the Year at the awards ceremony on 24th July.
The Foundation also took the prize of Best Special Project for
the conversion of the building’s cellar, the former laundry,
into a bar.
The
Foundation has raised £10,000 through sales and hiring out the
bar space, all of which has been pumped back into activities for
the local community, including setting up a local youth club,
which also uses the space to meet.
The
awards ceremony is hosted every year by
Leicestershire
County Council to recognise and celebrate the work of small
independent museums across
Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. For full details of
