October 2013

Thursday 10th: Appleby Magna WI meets at 7.30pm in the Church Hall. Wendy Freer will be giving a talk 'Life of a Victorian Servant'. The competition is a very old/Victorian photograph.

Friday 11th: Appleby Film Society presents Side Effects with Rooney Mara, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones. A riveting psychological thriller. Cert 15, 106 mins. 2.30pm and 8pm in the Church Hall. Contact Sonia 01530 272327 or sonia @ applebymagna.org.uk

Friday 18th: Music at Sir John Moore Foundation. Fordante presents an evening of Celtic melodies, Venetian harmonies & Argentinean rhythms plus a host of well known film music. Doors 7PM, Show starts 7:30PM. Tickets: £8 Adults, £5 Child, £20 Family (2+2)

Friday 25th: Live Friday at Sir John Moore Foundation. Plug and play with David Gray. Bring your own instruments, or just come and listen. Doors open 7.30pm

November 2013

Thursday 7th: Parish Council meeting, 7.30pm in The Stables at Sir John Moore Foundation. There is an opportunity for the public to ask questions at the start of the meeting. Minutes and agenda are available on the Parish Council page

Friday 8th: Appleby Film Society presents Untouchable. A rich quadriplegic, living in a mansion in Paris, requires a livein carer. A young offender turns up for an interview, not really looking to get the job. To his surprise, he is hired. The two men develop a close friendship. Comedy drama based on a true story. Thursday 14th: Appleby Magna WI meeting and AGM at the Church Hall.  The competition is a hand made Christmas decoration.  The hostesses are Gwyneth Wicks and C Pam Allen.  Come along to see how YOUR WI is run.

Sunday 24th: Centre Stage presents Alice in Wonderland at Sir John Moore Foundation. Proteus theatre cordially invites you to follow them down the rabbit hole to Wonderland for amazing adventures - oh, and tea of course. Bringing their trademark fusion of music, physical theatre, circus and puppetry creating a magical and mad-as-a-hatter version of Lewis Carroll's classic tales. Doors open 3.30pm, show 4pm. Friday 13th: Appleby Film Society presents Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. Dr Alfred Jones (Ewan McGregor) is asked to bring the sport of fly-fishing to the desert. Despite his initial scepticism, he embarks upon an upstream journey to prove the impossible is possible. An inspirational comedy. Cert 12A, 107 mins. 2.30pm and 8pm in the Church Hall.
